Palmer Pulse Snowboard 2010

For the second year in a row I was chosen as a Palmer Artist of the Year. I was asked to create a new set of graphics for both the Palmer Pulse & the Halo (a female board.) Having worked with this art director I hit the ground running, immediately presented with a concept.

We hammered out the words list (snowboard tricks) & agreeing on a color pallet. I drafted a number of sketches, exploring a wide variety of figures from half naked girls to animals & monstrosities. We both ultimately agreed the screaming face was the most dynamic & easily recognizable form of the bunch.

Drawn on several sheets of paper I put everything together in Illustrator, eventually vectorizing the entire piece and coloring it. The back featured some 17 hand drawn variations of the brand name to form a pattern. The Halo variation switched some of the colors a pink tongue & eyes among other things. Both the Pulse & Halo are currently available globally.
